Francesco Capparelli is a lawyer, Certified Ethical Hacker, Auditor, and Manager with a long-standing career in the field of cybersecurity. He holds two Master’s degrees in Law from LUISS University in Rome, one in Competition and Innovation Law with a focus on Privacy & Big Data, and another in Cybersecurity, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Biometrics. He also completed an MBA in Blockchain at Link Campus University, with a specialization in Smart Contracts.
Francesco is a Lead Auditor certified in ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 42001, Europrivacy, ISO 22301, ISO 9001, ISO 37001, and ISO 20000-1. Additionally, he holds certifications as a Risk Manager under ISO 31000 and as an Internal Auditor under ISO 19011. He is certified as a Project Manager with PRINCE2 and holds certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), including CIPP/E and CIPP/M.
As the Chief Cybersecurity Advisor at ICT Cyber Consulting, a legal-cybersecurity consultancy spun off from the law firm ICT Legal Consulting, co-founded by Luca Bolognini and Paolo Balboni, Francesco provides legal compliance consulting on cybersecurity topics for multinational corporations and large enterprises, covering areas such as GDPR, NIS2, DORA, and PSNC.
Francesco also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Istituto Italiano per la Privacy, where he coordinates the research team and leads projects within the Horizon Europe framework.
In academia, Francesco is a faculty member at Academy Istituto Privacy, teaching in the "Cybersecurity" course and the "Master in Data Protection & Data Protection Designer®" course, which is sponsored by the Italian Data Protection Authority. He also teaches in various Master’s programs on cybersecurity and data protection, including at LUISS Guido Carli University, within a framework of collaboration with ITHUM S.r.l.
Francesco is a prolific author, having written articles and research papers on data protection and cybersecurity. His works include the article "Terrorism: Recognizing it to Prevent it," and he serves as the deputy editor of the scientific journal Diritto ed Economia della Privacy. He has authored papers featured on platforms such as Lexology, Legal500, Mondaq, and Cybersecurity Magazine.
Francesco is a co-author of "Codice della Disciplina Privacy" (Giuffrè, 2019 and 2024), edited by Luca Bolognini and Enrico Pelino, as well as "Security Risk Management for the Internet of Things" (Now Publishers, 2020) and "Privacy e Libero Mercato Digitale" (Giuffrè, 2021). He is also the deputy editor of the scientific journal DETEP.
