Gilberto Comi is a partner in CARNELUTTI Law Firm. He is a member of the firm’s tax department. He is an Italian dottore commercialista, a tax professional and a skilled chartered accountant.

His practice focuses on advising the top management of financial institutions, industrial and commercial corporates in relation to tax and company law matters, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, as well as assisting clients on trust matters, corporate compliance and Law 231/2001 matters, at a national and international level.
Gilberto has been a member of the Italian Bar of Dottori Commercialisti ed Esperti Contabili and of the National Chartered Accountants & Tax Experts’ Society since 1990. He is also a member of AGN International (Accountants Global Network).
As an Italian and international tax and corporate specialist, he holds board of directors and statutory auditor committee positions with several Italian and international companies.
Gilberto regularly writes and lectures on tax and company law matters; he lectures on company administrative liability under Law 231/2001 to Executive MBA students at Milan Politecnico University, ranked in the top 100 of global EMBA courses by the Financial Times. Gilberto also lectured at the International seminar "Transfer Pricing: New Tax planning perspectives for multinational companies” organized by SDA Bocconi together with STS Deloitte, and he currently lectures at the Master in Corporate Tax Law, organized by Bocconi University.

He was recently included in the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in Italy™ for his expertise in Tax Law.

On 16 April 2020, Gilberto Comi and Massimo Marconi gave an on-line streaming lecture on "Transfer pricing: friendly procedure, arbitration”, in the framework of the Master in Corporate Tax Law organised by the Bocconi University. The 40 attendees were managers and officers of the IRS and financial police.

Trusts and Real Estate Assets

Gilberto Comi and Riccardo Zena, together with Professor Giorgio Semino, co-authored an article on Trusts and Real Estate Portfolios, published on the website of UBS bank dedicated to Wealth Planning titled Trust e Patrimoni Immobiliari. The authors focused on Trusts as an efficient tool to preserve estates in consideration, among other things, of the recent instructions released by the Italian Revenue Agency which – after years of debate – finally recognized the key principle that the time of taxation is not when the assets are contributed to the Trust by the settlor but the later moment when assets are assigned to the Trust’s beneficiaries.
